Installation

How to install Magnadent

Installation is quick and retrofits onto your existing operatory setup. No new plumbing, no tools beyond a pair of pliers. Watch the walkthrough, then follow the steps.

Full installation walkthrough, about 2 minutes.

The steps

  1. Remove the valve and tailpiece

Pull the suction valve off the tailpiece, then pull the tailpiece out of the hose. Stuck tailpieces can be gripped with pliers and eased out gently, without cracking them.

  2. Press the wand ring into the hose

Seat the Magnadent wand ring in the end of the hose. A water based lubricant around the ring makes the insertion much easier.

  3. Mount the tray

Place the Tray Mount into your existing hanger. Hold it steady while you tighten the bottom screw until firm.

  4. Park and go

The magnet parks your suction tip chairside, within reach. It lifts off in an instant, and your workflow does not change.

That is the whole install. No return visits, no plumbing changes.

Troubleshooting

The tailpiece will not come off
Grip it with pliers and remove it gently without cracking or breaking it. If all else fails, cut the hose just below the tailpiece and insert the wand ring into the hose at that point.
The wand ring is hard to get onto the hose
Use a water based lubricant around the wand ring to assist the insertion.
The Tray Mount slips in the hanger
The Tray Mount is textured to give a little hold. If it still slips, run a light 100 grit sanding along the intaglio surface of the hanger holder for a grippier fit. On a non A-dec hanger that runs a little larger, shim the Tray Mount with teflon or electrical tape.
